Research funding opportunities for Science postgraduates
1. Eligibility for research fundingPostgraduate research candidates are able to apply for both Monash University and external funding schemes, provided that:
It is desirable that any such applications be made jointly with the supervisor. 2.Australian Research Council (ARC)Australian Research Council (ARC) guidelines do not permit provision of funding for research undertaken as part of postgraduate studies or the provision of a stipend related to that research. However, the ARC supports postgraduate training with stipends available through ARC Linkage - Projects (APAIs), ARC Centres of Excellence (APACs), and ARC Discovery - Projects. International opportunities for postgraduate researchers are also offered through ARC Linkage - International awards and project support is offered through ARC Discovery - Indigenous Researchers Development. 3. Faculty of Science News Bulletin for Research StaffThe Faculty of Science News Bulletin for Research Staff is a fortnightly newsletter produced by the Manager, Research and Research Training that lists upcoming news and events related to research and current research funding opportunities. 4. SPIN (Sponsored Program Information Network)SPIN is a searchable database of national and international government and private funding opportunities, some of which are very specific. SPIN is available to all staff and students at Monash and can be accessed from Monash campuses or from outside through the Monash web server using a ‘monash.edu.au’ email address. 5. COS (Community of Science)COS is another searchable, web database for staff and students, accessible from all Monash campuses and externally through the Monash web server. Further information
