Software
The Faculty and University have negotiated for a number of commonly used software packages to be site or faculty licenced.
Where possible, we will provide information about commonly used, or purchased software on this page for easy reference. The ITS Software Catalogue, lists site-wide software available to all staff and students and any restrictions that may apply. The ITS Software Catalogue lists in detail, any licences that are University wide or are controlled by ITS on behalf of faculties
Unless specified otherwise, packages are only available for eligible staff and postgraduate students within Science schools. Packages that require the use of a concurrent licence will generally be restricted to staff wired ports within Science or certificate VPN access only. In some cases, the licence check outs may be also accessible from staff authenticated wireless.
Software is only available on Monash owned IT equipment and will not be installed on personally owned IT equipment. The licence of some products may restrict the cohort that is able to use that software / package / piece equipment in based on whether the licence covers that cohort.
For more information about software that is not listed below, please log a jobdesk request.

Adobe software

At our discounted rate, the licences can only be purchased directly from the appointed vendor - Edsoft.

Please note: The product codes above are for a single install licence only. The install media and unlocking keys are held by the Faculty IT group, and will be installed once the licence has been processed by Edsoft.
Macromedia software
The faculty no longer participates in the contract program known as a Term Site Licence. Some Macromedia products may be available for outright individual licence purchase. Any previous installations of the Macromedia software under the Term Site Licence agreement must be uninstalled.
Requests for more information or quotes regarding Macromedia software should be made by logging a Jobdesk request.
Work at Home software
Under some of our software licence agreements, staff and students may be entitled to also use the software package for work purposes at home. Some of these packages can be installed, if the University owns a licence and the software is installed on your desktop machine; other packages require a seperate purchase at a significantly reduced rate. The ITS Software Catalogue, lists which products are available for home use, but a summary is provided below.
Microsoft Software
There are now 3 options for Monash University staff wanting to use Microsoft products at home. For more information and to order Microsoft Work at Home software, browse to ITS Microsoft at Home, and follow the information provided.
SPSS
Staff who wish to use SPSS at home, must log an ITS Service Desk request, asking for a home install of SPSS. ITS will then provide a software agreement form to complete, as well as the installation media and install codes. ITS only provide a 5 day window to install the program once the media is issued. The faculty is charged a late fee of $100 if media is not returned on time. If received, the late fee will be passed onto your school or budget area.
Other Software for Home use
Contact Science IT via Jobdesk if you wish to have other software installed at home.
Media and Installation
In most cases, installation of Faculty or University software packages will be installed by Science IT Technicians. Media and licence codes are not generally released to staff or students unless there are exceptional circumstances. Please contact the Team Leader - Workstation Support if you specifically require media or codes.
This restriction enables the Faculty and University to ensure that we are compliant with all software licence contracts and regulations. In some cases we must also be able to produce an audit trail, stating exactly where each licence has been installed.
