Minimum enrolment number in units

Policy

Enrolments in all undergraduate units taught by schools in the Faculty of Science will be monitored by heads of school prior to the start of each semester and where the total (on-campus plus off-campus) enrolment in any unit is likely to be below 15 at the commencement of teaching, that unit should either be cancelled or reported to the dean under one of the following categories:

  • Units offered only as undergraduate research projects under individual supervision;
  • Units that are a ‘shell’ for material that is already offered for other viable units;
  • Units that are core to a course or a sequence in an advertised area of study and will only be offered in one enrolment mode;
  • Units that are offered under more than one code and where the combined enrolment is above the minimum;
  • Units offered only as part of an honours program;
  • Other special circumstances approved by the dean.
