Part 10: Leave entitlements

Annual leave

Candidates are entitled to 20 days recreation leave a year.

The supervisor's agreement must be obtained before leave is taken and the school notified in writing of intended leave arrangements.

Sick leave

Candidates are entitled to 10 days sick leave each year.

Applications for sick leave endorsed by the supervisor and head of school are made to the Research Degrees Committee via the Faculty of Science office.

Maternity leave

Maternity leave may be taken for a maximum of 12 weeks.

Reporting of absences

Short absences of less than two weeks (for example, illness or attendance at a local or interstate conference related to current study) that are not considered to interfere with progress need not be reported. However, all absences overseas, for whatever period, must be reported (except for approved annual leave) in writing to the supervisor and school.

International candidates must also report to Monash University International Student Admissions office as required.
