Research Supervisor Training for Faculty of Science staffAcademic staff members and research fellows who wish to be ‘main’ supervisors of doctoral students at Monash University need to be accredited as such with the Monash Research Graduate School (MRGS). This page gives an overview of the accreditation procedures, provides details of resources for supervisors, and lists upcoming training opportunities.

Resources for supervisorsfIRST (for Improving Research Supervision Training) Monash has joined the fIRST consortium of Australian and New Zealand universities. The fIRST website provides online access to a range of resources that help universities and individual supervisors improve the quality of their postgraduate research education. These include online activities to help individuals develop expertise as postgraduate research supervisors; materials and instructions for providing face-to-face staff development workshops; and tools, case studies, bibliographies, and links to other relevant web sites.
