PhD in psychology (current)
After completing my BSc (1997), majoring in Psychology, I went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Psychology (1998) and a Masters of Counselling Psychology (2000). I am now near completion of a PhD (Psychology), which I am enrolled in on a part-time basis. I am also working, part-time, as an Educational Psychologist at a Specialist School for children with Learning Difficulties and Behaviour Problems.
My day to day duties as an Educational Psychologist involve: Counselling students, Group Therapy, conducting various Psychological Assessments and the writing up of reports. Liaison with staff and parents is also an integral part of my work.
Although it has taken a lot of hard work and a long 7 years to become a psychologist, it’s a very satisfying field to work in, especially when you are able to make a positive change in a child’s life.
