"I most enjoy the self-satisfaction when the client consults me for advice, and also achieving my sales goals."

Jeanette Khoo

I promote innovative gynaecology and andrology products, to specialist doctors, general practitioners, pharmacists and the public for a leading multi-national company. I am also responsible for keeping the clients up-to-date with the latest scientific publications in regards to Schering-AG products.

Sometimes I can be perceived as any other door-to-door sales person, and my professional knowledge can be questioned. With my science background, I am able to explain professionally and competently the details of the products. The lack of knowledge by clients regarding the products is often surprising.

As a recent graduate and one of the youngest in the company,  its been a new ball game in the “real-world”. I am required to meet challenging sales targets by systematically assessing the sales potential of each customer and prioritizing activities. This role includes persuading new and existing clients to use our products. I also act as a customer advocate to help to ensure policies and guidelines balance the demands of the customers and company risks . Having studied abroad at a well-established university I have an advantage over others when it comes to successfully meeting doctors to promote products. Teamwork and communication skills are vital. Due to my involvement in numerous oral presentations and group discussions at Monash, I can easliy meet these requirements.

I most enjoy the self-satisfaction when the client consults me for advice, and also achieving my sales goals.

The major benefit from the degree was the large amount of applied laboratory work. My current job is not lab-based, but the critical and analytical thinking gained when conducting my own experiments independently, has helped me to solve problems and overcome new obstacles. Time-management was very important as a student and is a distinct advantage in the job.

At Monash Gippsland campus the lecturers were always willing to sit down with you to explain or clarify problems, counsel and help you to get back onto the right track.
Making new friends and sharing opinions about study, career and life in general taught me to see things optimistically. I have to agree that university is the best time of your life!
