I've been working here almost two months now. I previously worked at Messenger Media and IT (one year part time as an industry placement through Monash, then two and a half years full time).

My roles as Software Developer at Sage include web site development, database design, requirement specifications and client consultation.

The challenges include making our software as easy to use as possible, for us and our clients and doing the work that needs to be done before the work I want to do! Coming up with practical solutions to problems is also important. I enjoy being creative with problem solving making things more efficient for us and our clients and meeting new people.

I really enjoyed the science and computing aspects of my double degree. They were quite different, and helped me maintain a higher level of interest and enthusiasm during my course.

My studies at Monash helped me to see any given task through to completion (e.g. study, assignments, exams, and the whole course) My mind was broadened with ideas and problem solving techniques. I learnt skills that apply directly or indirectly to my current job.

Although I did enjoy chemistry and biochemistry, I am very happy with my present computing job. I believe the scientific foundation has helped me to be methodical and precise in my current job.
