"I could actually relate my studies to what I was doing out in the field."

I am the Development Manager with a water treatment chemical manufacturer, who also supplies technical service to water treatment clients throughout Victoria and interstate. I am involved in the developing of new chemicals and their production methods on our Morwell site. In addition I also have the responsibility of the sites Environmental Scientist and I provide technical assistance to clients based in Victoria, assisting them with solving water treatment problems, and achieving their plant performance, quality and environmental discharge requirements. I am also involved in the designing, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of water treatment, and chemical dosing facilities.

I was quite lucky actually, as during my course I was a trainee with the SECV, and because I was working and studying at the same time the course was quite practical. I could actually relate my studies to what I was doing out in the field, and that made it much more worthwhile.
