Less than half of all positions available are advertised in the press. The majority are found through:

  • Contacts, friends, colleagues and recommendations
  • Web sites of employment agencies and professional science associations
  • Government organisations who employ graduates
  • University career resources
  • Recruitment companies
  • Sending resumes and tentative applications to organisations or industries

Monash University Employment and Career Development assists student and graduate job searchers, and potential employers. It provides the following service:

  • A comprehensive employment and careers service to students, graduates and employers
  • A wide range of facilities, programs and resources are available to students throughout their course at Monash and continue to be free up to 6 months after studies are completed
  • Targeted programs and services are established for those entering the graduate labour market
  • Tuition in skills such as interview techniques and resume writing for those who wish to write or improve a resume prior to completing a degree
  • Assistance to local and overseas employers who may recruit graduates and students for vacation, general, part-time and graduate positions
