Faculty of Science Early Career Researcher Grants 2008

The Faculty of Science is committed to nurturing and supporting Early Career Researchers and in 2000 introduced the Early Career Researcher Grants scheme to provide seeding funds for junior staff who have yet to develop a strong track record.

1. Number of grants to be awarded

Grants of up to $20,000 each will be awarded in 2008 for 2009 from a total funding pool of $80,000.

2. Eligibility requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements to be eligible for an award *:

  • Employment status: be a Monash University salaried ‘Teaching and Research’ academic (excluding ‘Research Only’ staff) employed on a continuing basis or for a fixed term of at least two years in the Faculty of Science;
  • Appointment level: hold a position at academic staff Level A, B or C; and
  • Completion of doctorate: have completed a doctorate within seven years of the deadline for applications for this scheme (that is, after 30 June 2001).

(* An applicant who does not satisfy the eligibility requirements may be considered for this scheme if he or she can demonstrate a lack of research opportunities since receiving a doctorate such as having been employed in industry, a teaching only position, working part-time (or not at all) due to family responsibilities and / or be a recent appointee without major external research funding.)
