Inspire yourself

If you are thinking of doing a postgraduate research degree inspire yourself at the Science Postgraduate Research Expo .

Researchers from each of the six schools of science will showcase their leading and emerging research areas.

Be inspired by speakers who will provide personal insights into fulfilling and exciting careers that followed from their postgraduate research studies.

  • Dr Karen Siu - Physics
  • Dr Tina Ventrice - Chemistry

Advisors from science will be available to discuss potential research programs and outline a range of services including scholarship opportunities.

Drinks and finger foods will be provided.

Heavenly attractions at Monash: an astronomical event

A National Science Week event hosted by the Faculty of Science
Thursday 19 August, 7:30pm - 10:30pm

Monash University, Clayton campus, Wellington Road

Professor Rob Norris, Dean, Faculty of Science invites you to explore the universe with Monash Science and the Astronomical Society of Victoria at the special event, Heavenly attractions at Monash.

Three astrophysicists from Monash’s School of Mathematical Sciences will share with you the science of astronomy when speaking about their exciting space research:

Dr Andrew Prentice: “The solar system”

Dr Rosemary Mardling: “Extra solar planets – discovering other worlds”

Dr Alina-Catalina Donea: “Black holes and their environment”

Perry Vlahos, Vice President of the Astronomical Society of Victoria, will use a laser pointer to direct you to the brightest stars and planets, and will outline the shapes of the constellations. You can look at some celestial objects through large telescopes provided by Society members (weather permitting).

Tea and coffee will be provided.
Free public event but bookings are essential.
