You and the job you wantWhat is self assessment?Self assessment involves analysing things about yourself – your skills and knowledge, how you have learnt from experiences, your decision-making process and motivation as well as the goals you have for your future. Self assessment is a way of learning more about what you do well, what you enjoy doing and what you hope to continue to do in the future. The process of self assessment also includes reflecting on the things that you could improve and what actions you can take to bring about improvements in the future. The benefits of self assessment are that you will more clearly define the skills, knowledge and personal attributes that equip you for professional employment as a graduate as well as identify the nature of work and the type of work settings that suit you best. The following activities will start your self assessment. It is important to remember there is no right or wrong answers in self assessment – it is all about how you view yourself.
