Course requirements

All science courses and the science components of double degree courses have a set of requirements. These vary from course to course, but typical requirements are

One or two major seqences from the science areas of study
Foundation studies at level one (e.g., a unit from each of three broad areas of science, a statistics unit)
One or more core units
A minimum number of science units at level one
A maximum number of level-one units
At least 24 points of science units at level three
Free electives or science electives
An overall number of credit points

It is important that you understand the requirements of your particular course and that you plan how you will meet each of the requirements. In particular, always check this when you are making changes to your enrolment. Course requirements are spelt out in the University Undergraduate Handbook. You may also find the various course maps useful that are available for the Clayton, Gippsland and Malaysia campuses.

NOTE: Course requirements may change from time to time. Unless specified otherwise students have the choice to follow the course requirements of the year they commenced their course, or the requirements introduced later, provided they do not ‘mix and match’ requirements.
When in doubt, students are strongly recommended to seek course advice.
